摘要

New shark-resistant netting that can protect fish being farmed in aquaculture cages in the open ocean is crucially dependent on the use of a strong, lightweight fibre from DSM Dyneema, which has its headquarters in Urmond, The Netherlands. Net Systems Inc of Bainbridge Island, Washington, USA, says its netting, Predator-X, prevents sharks from tearing, cutting and penetrating the cages. The netting is made from a hybrid of DSM Dyneema's strong ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibre, which is called Dyneema, and stainless steel wire.
