Geoff Fisher visited Turkey to learn about some of Rieter Perfojet's local customers, such as AS Nonwovens, who are investing in machinery with the goal of competing with the world's major converters. Since 1980, when Turkey had a closed economy, the textile/clothing industry has both grown rapidly and shifted from low-value commodities to high-value manufactured goods. One sector in which Turkey has developed in recent years is nonwovens, particularly spunlace and spun-bond products. Rieter Perfojet of France is currently working with a number of companies in Turkey with its vision of adaptable manufacturing systems for rapidly expanding applications, such as wipes.
