摘要

Fabric coating is the application of a polymer to a textile. The polymer may be in the form of an aqueous or solvent solution or dispersion and a layer of material is produced in situ by the removal of the water or solvent. The polymer may also be in molten or hot-melt form. In the case of lamination, the applied layer of material (such as polymer film, foam or second fabric) is already preformed and the lamination is simply a joining process. Coating and lamination are processes by which fabric properties are modified, improved or transformed into entirely new ones. Examples are tarpaulins, waterproof protective clothing fabric, car seat upholstery and shower curtains.
