摘要

Carbon fibers have interesting mechanical properties - they are lightweight, strong and robust, do not melt nor oxidize. Mostly they are thus used as reinforcement in composites, e.g. in the areas of automotive and aviation. Additionally, carbon fibers are conductive and are thus also used for heating of components or textiles. However, until now they are not used for data transmission, since their conductivity is about 5 orders of magnitude lower than that of silver and copper and more than 3 orders of magnitude lower than that of stainless steel. In this article, the possibilities of data transmission by carbon fiber yarns are depicted.
