The Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has granted permission to the Russian petrochemical producer OAO Nizhnekamsk-neftekhim (NKNK), Nizhnekamsk/Tatarstan Republic, to acquire 100% of the shares of JSC Polymatiz, Elabuga/Russia. The new owner may well make Polymatiz Russia's largest producer of nonwoven materials and create conditions for the expansion of its range, especially focusing on the increase of production of a new generation of nonwovens, the demand for which has increased significantly in Russia in recent years. Polymatiz's capacities are estimated at 3,500 tons/year of staple fiber, 1,800 tons/year of nonwoven fabrics, as well as 560,000 sets/ year of carpets for cars. Production capacities are currently only running at 48%, but it is expected that full capacity will be achieved in the coming years.
