Paris présente la particularité d'être alimentée en eau potable par de nombreuses sources, captées à la fin du 19e siècle et au début du 20e siècle. Le débit de ces sources est important et leur captage a un impact plus ou moins sensible sur l'alimentation des rivières en aval. Au cours de la sécheresse 2006, Eau de Paris a procédé au déversement de sources afin de soutenir les étiages particulièrement sévères de certaines rivières. Depuis 2007, ces déversements systématiques sont effectués dans le cadre d'un dispositif défini par le préfet coordon-nateur du bassin Seine-Normandie.%One particularity of Paris is that its drinking water is supplied by numerous springs, which were developed in the late 19th century and early 20th century. These springs are characterized by a considerable flow rate and their catchment has varying impact on the supply of water to downstream rivers. During the 2006 drought, Eau de Paris spilled water from springs in order to provide support to the particularly severe low flow observed in some of the rivers. Since 2007, these systematic spills have been carried out within the framework of a system defined by the prefect responsible for coordinating the Seine-Normandy catchment area.
