India has exploited opportunities provided by the emergent global information technology (IT) industry so successfully that the country is being imitated by other nations interested in harnessing IT as a tool of economic development [5], [26]. The size of the Indian IT industry is significant, producing US$48 billion in 2007, and contributing 5.2% to Indian GDP in the same year. The IT industry is the largest job creator in the Indian private sector, and was projected to provide employment to 2 million people directly, and 6.5 million people indirectly in 2008 [37].
