European Parliament declares U.S.-EU privacy accord to be inadequate. In late May, the president of the European Commission (EC) held a joint press conference with President Clinton to essentially declare the data privacy agreement between the two bodies a done deal. Now; more than a month later, the European Parliament (EP) has cast doubt on the finality of the agreement. On July 4, the EP passed a resolution declaring the accord to be inadequate to protect the privacy of European citizens.
