Despite the advent of personalized medicine, clinical treatments of cancer still depend on old toxic chemotherapy drugs. Unfortunately, that means diat patients are still suffering from adverse effects resulting from the non-specific toxicity of these old drugs to normal tissues. In a recent work published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (USA), an Indo-US team that I lead has used nanotechnology to remove the side-effects and uncap the full potential of an old drug, cisplatin.
