You would be forgiven for thinking that it is raining browsers these days. The big three, Google, Micosoft and Apple, have launched updates or new versions of their browsers, while Mozilla continues to work away with its Firefox. Lying in the wings are the likes of Opera, K-Meleon and Flock, each adding new features and functionalities by the day. Yes, if you thought that the browser wars had ended in the nineties with IE emerging victorious and Netscape slinking away into oblivion, think again. Today, one has a whole variety of options for browsing the Internet with almost similar feature sets and if you believe what their developers say, each is the best in the world.rnBeing a tad more cynical, we decided to take the big four: IE 8,rnFirefox 3, Safari 4 and Chrome-for a spin and see how they compared on different parameters, and also if any of the outsiders had their measure in this regard. The results were interesting, to say the least. We hasten to add that these are based totally on user experience and not on some high-tech (and indecipherable) testing. This was simple "browse around and see" usage at its best.
