Why it is hot: Finally we will usher in the era of high speed data services on the mobile phone, if all goes according to the latest auction schedule set by the government. The indications of its arrival have been teasing us for a long time, and we have been following the directions to the treasure. We have purchased smartphones which are 3G capable. We are basing our working style on the fact that pretty soon we will have 3G on our phones. However, 3G's success will totally depend on the way the auction goes- in terms of how much the operators end up spending to get the spectrum. It is obvious that they will pass on the cost to the customers, and the more they spend, the higher the tariffs will be.
