Right out of the box, the new Lenovo Ideapad U110 is a thing of beauty. The slim profile, laser embossed red lid and small size will turn heads anywhere. Included in the box is an external DVD-RW and two batteries; a 4-cell and a 7-cell. Even the 7-cell doesn't stick out much; at a glance you might not be able to tell the difference. It's also got quite a few connectivity options despite the small size; three USB ports, VGA out, Firewire, LAN, Express card slot, 3.5mm audio out, mic, SD/MMC slot and Kensington lock slot. It's no ThinkPad, that's for sure. There's no trackpoint and the frameless screen is way too glossy. For a tiny 11.1 -inch size, you'd expect smaller size keys too, but you'll be surprised looking at the huge keys in the U110. While that's great, what's not so great is that they're all flat, a little slippery and really close to each other. And the worst part is that being glossy, the keyboard and palmrest attract smudges and fingerprints like bright light attracts moths. Just after 5 minutes of use, you barely see any of that gloss anywhere.
