UPC Romania's core TV business is under attack from cut-price satellite offers, though the cable operator's broadband and telephony offers are going strong. UPC Romania's cable networks cover 200 towns and cities, including the capital, Bucharest. The company offers TV, Internet access and telephony via cable, and direct-to-home (DTH) satellite TV. It is a subsidiary of cable group Liberty Global International (LGI), which expanded its Romanian cable operations in October 2005 with the US$407.1 million (€260.1 million) purchase of Astral Telecom.
