摘要

The plan by Deutsche Telekom International Carrier Sales and Solutions (DT ICSS), announced this month, to join US-based traffic exchange Arbi-net's peering community has given the Spider Registry a substantial lead over competing ENUM systems, according to backers. Unlike end-to-end platforms from VoIP-peering firms such as X-Connect and Stealth Communications, Spider is a neutral registry that any registrar can use to register and access subscribers' phone numbers and e-mail, SIP and other addresses. Arbinet was the first Spider member, joining at launch in May last year, followed by VoEX, a US managed-VoIP provider, in September. DT ICSS s deal with Arbinet will add around 81 million subscribers' phone numbers to Spider, taking the registry total to an estimated 500 million, according to Steve Heap, CTO of Arbinet. "The combination of what Arbinet has got in there and what VoEX has got in there ... is probably 10 times as much as anyone else," he says.
