Cable & Wireless has reached an agreement with Gores Technology Group on the sale of "substantially all" of its U.S. assets for $125 million, although the agreement is dependent on a number of conditions being met. One of these is that the assets be placed in Chapter 11 with the aim of producing a lower cost base. This cost cutting will come primarily from the "elimination and renegotiation" of some leases and contracts, the company said in a statement. No details of the cuts required were disclosed.
