Imports of woven and knit apparel by the United States in 2014 stood just slightly above 2013 levels. Total imports for the year reached US$82,974 billion, 2.5% ahead of 2013. Growth of knit apparel imports slightly offset a decline for woven apparel. Quantity imported increased 1.1% to 26.633 billion pieces of garment, again with knit apparel growth offsetting woven apparel decline. Import growth slowed in the fourth quarter, with imports of $20,099 billon, only 1.4% ahead of 2013 levels and compared with gains of 2.5% and 3.4% in preceding quarters.
