Yarn Expo took up 10,000 sq. m or twice the size of space it occupied at the previous spring fair. Some 250 exhibitors from 15 economies joined the Yarn Expo this time despite the somewhat uncertain conditions prevailing in the cotton yarn market. Cotton was of course the dominant fibre at the show; but there was also a wide selection of other natural yarns as well as blended yarns and specialty products. Overseas participation at this event totalled 102 or over 40% of the total, with the largest contingent (55) coming from India included some first time participants, but the total number was smaller than the number attended the previous spring show. The second largest contingent (22) was from Pakistan. Others came from Bangladesh, Egypt, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and Uzbekistan. Participants from China divided into three zones - cotton, man-made fibre and China fibres fashion trends zone with its trend display presenting the most advanced biochemical fibres produced in the country; among them, theadvanced cottony polyester fibre, specialty fibre and functional fibre. The trend area was designed by the China Chemical Fiber Association to highlight the fibre trend in China.
