Governing Thailand is not always done coherently. The state-operated TV Channel 11 set up a competition to create a new logo and received some 2,000 entries, from which the winner was chosen by a bunch of architects and admen. As soon as the choice was made known, it was challenged vigorously by a garment manufacturer known as Golden Bowl, whose own long-standing logo is indeed very similar to the committee's choice. Channel 11 was asked to stop using the new device, but the end is not yet in sight. Thai government employees can be tough opponents.
