From a business perspective, the blowroom - apart from the loss of raw material that occurs there - is not a relevant factor in the context of the process costs of the spinning mill as a whole. However its qualitative influence on the end product is considerable, say Rieter of Winterthur. Fibre length, fibre strength and nep count in particular can deteriorate significantly in a second-rate blowroom, also with an adverse impact on yarn properties.
