Italy is emerging as the world leader in three main types of weaving technology - weft insertion system in rapier, air-jet and projectile. The country is already the world leader in the area of rapier and air-jet looms, both in terms of innovative components, and volume sold. And now, Italian acquisitions abroad are giving the industry an enviable market edge. Italy 's total exports of weaving technology, including machinery for production preparation and related accessories, have been rising this year. Exports during the first half of the year amounted to ?244 million Euros or some 59% of last year's total exports worth ?416 million.
