Our last article about this new company - see Textile Asia for April 2004 at p.3 - described the rapid progress with which, with its 18,000 employees, it left DTI to become a new entity with its own board, Chairman and new owner, namely Koch Industries of Wichita Kansas. By coincidence Invista chose the spring of 2004 - nearly the end of the ATC- to start full operations. In late autumn China holds in Shanghai its largest ever exhibition and trade fair, and Invista, the largest integrated fibre company, will take advantage of this occasion to hold, following the tradition of DTI's Rendez-Vous, its own Rendez-Vous inside the trade fair. On October 27-29 Invista's Rendez-Vous 2004 forms part of Intertextile Shanghai 2004 as a world showcase for its strong brand portfolio and for innovative products which are proving popular with designers and manufacturers around the world. The event will also offer a platfonn from which Invista will provide insights into what is driving the Chinese market, and how the style and fashion sense of its 1.3b potential consumers is changing. This is Invista Rendez-Vous' seventh year. Now it is recognised as one of the industry's key events in Asia says Greg vas Nunes, Vice-president, Apparel-Asia Pacific.
