Chalou founder and pioneer of big size fashion, Manfred Barth (68) has passed away. With his sudden death, the industry has lost a straightforward person, who with great vigour, profound business sense, passion and humour, led his company to the top in big size fashion. Barth founded Chalou Kleiderfabrik GmbH in 1973 by taking over a production site in Herschweiler-Pettersheim. He recognised at an earlyrnstage that his only chance of survival in competition with the major manufacturers of womenswear was to specialise. With entrepreneurial foresight, Manfred Barth changed his range to big sizes. From a small enterprise, the company grew and flourished over the years and in the meantime its products are marketed throughout the world. Today, more than 100 people are employed at the company headquarters in Herschweiler-Pettersheim.rnHis wife Dagmar Barth and Stephan Reiter will jointly manage the company. Stephan Reiter, long-standing tax consultant and auditor at Chalou GmbH, will be responsible for finances and sales.
