Crude oil prices showed mixed trend in December 2011. While Europe Brent prices edged lower at 107.73 per barrel, down 2.3% as compared to previous month, WTI spot averaged US$98.41 per barrel, up 1.24% in similar comparison. Asian crude oil prices plunged 1.69% averaging US$105.02 per barrel, whereas, naphtha prices averaged US$898 per metric ton. European debt crisis and • slowing Chinese manufacturing limited upward moves in oil prices during the month, China's factory output shrank again in December as demand in domestic and abroad slackened. However, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and potential threats to supply were supportive to the markets.
