IAEA member Alan Watling takes a walk down Memory Lane to remind us about the heroic deeds of Dudley Hewitt, whose name lives on in the Institute's Dudley Hewitt Award. As most of the Institute members know, Dudley Hewitt is the name associated with the most prestigious accolade awarded by the Institute: the Dudley Hewitt Award for the student who attains outstanding results in the written examinations. If you check the pages at the beginning of your Institute diary, it states that the award was introduced by Cecil B Hewitt, who was the post-war Secretary of the Institute, in memory of his son, Dudley, who was killed in the Second World War.
