摘要

The new role of Finance Officer replaces the role of Treasurer. The main purpose of this role is to ensure that all Institute monies are accounted for accurately in a transparent manner, the preparation of accounts for the external financial auditors, and reporting to Council and our members on our current financial position. Many people believe that the Finance Officer holds the purse strings and decides how the Institute funds are spent. This is not the case. The members of Council, who are elected by the membership, decide how the members' money is spent; the Finance Officer is there to advise on the current financial position and the impact of any expenditure agreed by Council. Having only been appointed to the role in July, my initial plan is to carry out a review of how the accounts are maintained at present and what documents and processes are currently in place relating to the accounts.
