When James (Jimmy) Budd passed away in May 2010, the IAEA lost a hugely respected and loyal friend.Those who knew him felt it was only fitting that the Institute should honour his exceptional dedication in a lasting memorial. The subject was discussed at a Council meeting in July, where several proposals were put forward. Council voted on these options and the favoured tribute was to set up a scholarship in Jimmy'name; as an education body, this was agreed to be an appropriate acknowledgement of all the time and expertise Jimmy gave to the Institute-'a living memorial rather than an item sitting in a cupboard somewhere', was how one Council member put it.
