Construction has begun at Switzerland's first two-piece D&I canmaking plant, established by Rexam at Widnau. The £115m ($191m) project will be a wall-to-wall facility supplying energy drink giant Red Bull with slim and sleek cans, through its contract filler and subsidiary Rauch. The plant is due to begin operating in early 2015, with two lines initially producing around 1bn cans a year. The operation will eventually house four production lines and have capacity of 2.2bn cans.
