摘要

This paper first explains the basic process of photosynthesis and examines how plants react to light, compared to human sensitivity to artificial light. It then looks at the requirements for photosynthesis under artificial lighting and examines the suitability of different types of artificial lighting employed for plant growth. The paper explores two major case studies: the effectiveness of the lighting system used in Croke Park stadium, Dublin, for maintaining the growth of grass under artificial lighting; the second case study considers unwelcome plant growth under artificial lighting in the Dunmore Cave in Co. Kilkenny, Ireland.
