Ever higher demands are being said to be placed on the materials used in the construction of modern diesel engines for commercial ships in response to tighter emissions standards and rising oil prices.rnGerman company ThyssenKrupp says that this calls for greater energy efficiency while at the same time increasing the power output from ever smaller engines which has resulted in a significant increase in operating temperatures in the combustion chamber.
