摘要

The trauma intervention framework currently in use by the Israel Police is innovative in that it combines several approaches and models together to provide a comprehensive and practical plan of action before, during, and after potentially traumatic events, based on and adapted from preventive medicine practices. Thus far, the framework is helping to improve resilience at both individual officer and unit levels, leading to greater operational fortitude. Because it is commander-led and relies on the importance of personal example, the framework has also had the effect of reducing the stigma about mental health issues in the police force. By defining expectations and opening up discussion of the issues, police officers are now more able to understand their own mental health and take appropriate actions as needed.
