In mid-July 2016, the IACP submitted 10 questions on criminal justice policy issues to both the Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump U.S. presidential campaigns in an effort to increase our understanding of their criminal justice-related policy positions and philosophies. While the IACP is precluded from endorsing a candidate, the responses from each candidate have been distributed to IACP members to inform them of each candidate's presidential policy positions specific to criminal justice and how they plan to work with law enforcement to safeguard the citizens of the United States.
