No, no, no. Not another book on the Falklands War of 1982. Graham Bound's Fortress Falklands is about a possible future conflict not just in the Falklands but in the whole southern Atlantic. Why should we fuss about 3,000 stubborn 'Bennies' - as the squaddies rudely called the islanders in 1982 - and why should we spend all that money in providing a garrison and a naval and air deterrent so far away, when we can hardly maintain our current security requirements, not least in Afghanistan or for policing the recent Olympics?
