SIR, I was disappointed that your reviewer of the Dar Mutiny of 1964 (RUSI Journal: June 2007) chose to include within his remarks an offensive attack on the United Nations' civilian staff: 'UN bureaucrats' he called them. I have served with the UN in Cyprus and Iraq and alongside them in West Africa. Amongst their ranks there are no doubt the venal and all organizations, unless checked, have a tendency to be 'producer-benefit' rather than 'output-oriented'. However, that is not the UN I know.
