People All Over The World Enjoy Tempura, ThernJapanese delicacy of battered vegetables and seafood. But frying tempura requires oil, nearly 200,000 tons of which are eventually discarded by Japanese households each year, polluting local waterways. For Yumi Someya of U's Corp., all that grease is a hidden treasure. "Tokyo is a big oil field," she says, "and every home and restaurant is a spot for drilling."
