摘要

Studies on the cause of serious automobile accidents reveal that as many as one-fourth of the accidents is due to excessive vehicle side slip that leads to uncontrollability. We found that the excessive vehicle side slip was in many cases due to drivers' misjudgment of road con- ditions or unexpected traffic behavior, leading to abrupt maneuver of the drivers. It was also verified from the investigation results of actual vehicles that it is quite difficult for drivers in general to control the side slip once it occurred. The safety devices already introduced to the market, i.e., ABS or traction control system, are purposed to estab- lish guards for braking or acceleration for longitudinal direction. Conversely , VSC set target in establishing guards for lateral direction To improve the accident evasive performance.
