Nottinghamshire County Council's is to install SPECS average speed cameras, making it the very first contract to be let through the Government Procurement Services 'Traffic Management Technology' framework. The A614 in Nottinghamshire has a significant collision and casualty history, with 283 people killed or injured in the last five years. In summer 2011, average speed check cameras were identified as an appropriate measure to address collisions along this route with the support of the Road Safety Minister, local MP and senior county councillors.
