Having spent decades making photographs and traveling with dozens of fellow railroad photographers, I've made countless observations on the equipment, styles, and techniques employed in the creation of successful pictures. Fifteen years ago, John Gruber and I wrote a book on the subject. I thought I'd share some of my observations to help you improve your railroad photo technique.
