The 30th Australasian Transport Research Forum (ATRF) was held on 25-27 September 2007 in Melbourne, with some 80 contributed papers and three keynote addresses plus a dinner speech by Dr Derek Scrafton outlining the development of ATRF over the years. All papers helped to ensure a very successful ATRF appreciated by some 160 participants.rnSelecting three contributed papers to summarise is a challenge, particularly when there were up to four parallel sessions. Instead, here are three groupings of papers of interest.rnDealing with current transport problems, a joint paper titled "Further development of in-service suspension testing for heavy vehicles" by Lloyd Davis (and winner of the John Taplin award) outlined how truck "road friendly" suspensions can cause extra road damage when they are not working, particularly when heavier mass concessions are taken up.
