摘要

Sprinklers, garden hoses, lawn watering systems and more were shut off just miles from our nation's capital in neighboring suburbs of Montgomery and Prince George's County, Md., in early July as a result of a mandatory water restriction - the result of a damaged 96-in. water pipe. City officials required the public to minimize all water usage by 30 percent to ensure water pressure availability for emergencies such as fires. What I find amazing is that five days into the water moratorium water usage by the community was down only 15 percent, half of the requested amount. Fines of $500 or more were given to the abusers but sadly what these folks failed to understand is the importance of protecting and investing in their underground infrastructure for their daily living.
