A 65-mile water transmission line construction project near Green Bay, Wis., is slated to be completed by the end of 2006 that will meet the long-term water needs of water users in six of the city's suburbs. As part of the estimated $106 million project, auger boring and pipe ramming were successfully utilized to install part of the new line. Contractors involved in the project — specifically trench-less contractor Iowa Trenchless, Panora, Iowa, and general contractor Dorner Inc., Luxemburg, Wis. — say auger boring was used to install the water line where the ground condi-tions were most conducive and required shorter bores.
