Mergers and acquisitions are not new to the engi-neering and construction industry; however, the frequency of the activity ebbs and flows. At a quick glance, it appears that the last couple of years have been a high point of M&A activity. Earlier this year, FMI Capital Advisors Inc.'s "2019 M&A Trends for Engi- neering and Construction" backed this up, noting that there were S34 transactions announced in the engineering and construction sector in 2018. This marked a 26.S percent increase over its 2017 report. FMI's report goes on to say that this is the highest level of activity the firm has ever recorded.
