Nukem Nutronik has added an ultrasonic plate inspection system to its large programme of automatic ultrasonic inspection machines. Two of these inspection machines have heen installed in the plate mills of two well known steel works in Russia and Germany. They have been developed to inspect high quality plates for tube manufacturing with strong requirements as to the size of defects to be located. Intelligent algorithms permit individual product-relevant evaluation criteria. Product dimensions may vary between 1.5-5 mm in width and 6 - 60 mm in thickness, the smallest length being approximately 3 m.
