The United Kingdom' s Ministry of Defence has invested £1.1 million in a robotic mannequin that will test protective suits and equipment for the U.K.'s armed forces. The animatronic robot, called Por-ton Man after the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory in Porton Down in Wilthsire, has the ability to walk, sit, kneel, walk, march, run and imitate a soldier sighting a weapon. The mannequin has more than a hundred sensors that enable scientists to conduct real-time analysis on chemical and biological suits.
