The U.S. National Park Service announced in late June that it is banning the use of unmanned aircraft and hobbyist model aircraft from all national parks, saying they disrupt wildlife and bother other visitors. However, there are some exceptions, as the NPS says, "The National Park Service may use unmanned aircraft for administrative purposes such as search and rescue, fire operations and scientific study. These uses must also be approved by the associate director for Visitor and Resource Protection."
