Norway's Kongsberg Maritime says one of its Hugin 1000 autonomous underwater vehicles has completed a 30-kilometer subsea pipeline inspection, the longest multisensor, autonomous underwater vehicle pipeline survey that has ever been conducted. The inspection took place 9-11 Feb. in the Hjelte fjord near Bergen, Norway. The Hugin was operated from the Norwegian navy vessel HnoMS Maloy. The Hugin inspected two subsea pipelines feeding the oil refinery at Mongstad. The AUV carried Kongsberg's HISAS 1030 synthetic aperture sonar, an EM 3002 multi-beam echosounder and an optical camera.
