Unmanned systems are already performing intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions; defusing explosives; attacking insurgents; neutralizing mines and conducting scientific surveys; not to mention vacuuming floors.rnAccording to two recent "roadmaps" of unmanned systems and robots, in the future they could do much, much more.rnThe U.S. Department of Defense recently released its 2009-2034 Unmanned Systems Integrated Roadmap, which combines the plans and ideas of all the services. While numerous unmanned systems are already in military use, the roadmap shows that the military has some truly ambitious ideas in mind in the coming decades.
