I raised this question some dozen years ago when I joined AUVSI's Board of Trustees. I learned that we viewed robots principally as automatic, conceivably autonomous, ground-based machines, many of which were static and in factory-style environments. Unmanned vehicle systems, on the other hand, were all about mobility, were heavily funded in many nations for defense applications and were geared for full autonomy.
