摘要

The Asian Aerospace 2004 exhibition at Singapore's Changi international airport in late February highlighted the extensive interest in unmanned systems by most nations in the region. The show also featured a major UAV 'first' with the Israel Aircraft Industries ― EADS Heron/Eagle becoming the first medium-altitude, long-endurance UAV to fly at a major public air show. Visitors were able to watch a real-time image of the exhibition areas it flew over, projected on a large screen. The Eagle/Heron system took center stage each day during Asian Aerospace 2004, leading off the daily flight demonstrations. All air traffic in and out of Singapore's Changi International Airport, one of the busiest in Southeast Asia, was suspended while the UAV flew. This highlighted the need for active work within the Asian region on integration of UAVs into controlled airspace.
