Museums, especially those dealing with the Earth's natural history and its many inhabitants throughout the ages, always have been filled with really interesting things-from archaeological artifacts to fossilized dinosaur bones to stylized sculptures to exhibits depicting the many myths and legends concerning ancient peoples and their gods and goddesses. It used to be that you'd visit, enjoy a fascinating day of learning and discovery, then return home until the next time there was a school trip or weekend visit with your culture-minded parents. While the actual exhibitions in the museum rightly remain the focus, modern-day gift shops have stepped up as a museum locale worth visiting. A favorite of ours is The Field Museum Store, Chicago. Now, we wouldn't even try to begin to list the many fascinating-and entertaining-items that can be found there, but there are four that caught our eye.
