There's a new basic trainer from France on the scene, and it's not from Marignane. After an 18 month long hiatus, potential owners of the Cabri G2 two-seater, the brainchild of former Eurocopter designer Bruno Guimbal that is manufactured by Helicopteres Guimbal, are once more taking an interest. Sales have been made in the U.K., Denmark and Germany, but the manufacturer struggles to win over the U.S. FAA. Another new single-engine helicopter, Marenco Swisshelicopter Ltd.'s SKYe SH09, is progressing toward first flight this year (See "A Swiss Masterpiece," Vertiflite January/February 2013). Marenco said at Heli-Expo in March that it had received 35 orders for the 5-8-seat helicopter through early 2013. First deliveries are planned for 2015.
